Your Braces Options in Teddington

Teeth straightening braces have been around for a long time and help to correct lots of different issues with the teeth such as bite problems, aesthetic issues and crookedness.

They work by moving the teeth slowly, millimetre by millimetre until they are in their desired position. Braces can be fixed or removable, and they may be needed for a matter of weeks, months, or a year or more, dependent on the treatment required.

Teeth are crooked because they didn’t erupt properly and came in tilted, sideways, overlapping or spaced apart and, as a result, the alveolar bone demonstrates hypoplasia or hyperplasia.

Recent advances in orthodontics offer exciting and innovative solutions for treating all kinds of dental issues with relative ease. Treatment is also more convenient and accessible to a wide range of budgets.

Modern Fixed Braces

Fixed braces are still a firm favourite as they can provide bodily movement of the tooth and root to reposition teeth into the most favourable positions.

FASTBRACES® Technologies high performance bracket systems upright the roots of the teeth towards their final position from the beginning of treatment with just one square wire and thus establish the natural alveolar bone morphology naturally.

For patients who prefer a more discreet brace, the brackets are also available in clear, where the wire and brackets blend into the colour of the teeth.

Lingual Braces

Lingual braces are fixed to the tongue side of the lower front teeth and are used to straighten just this section of teeth.

As they are fixed to the tongue side, they are completely invisible from the outside.

Removable Braces

Removable braces are unable to have the full range of tooth movements available with fixed braces, but they are an excellent alternative for those who do not wish to wear  fixed braces.

Invisalign is a way of straightening teeth conveniently and discreetly.

Instead of using wires and brackets, Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners that are custom made specifically for you. The look is so discreet that it is difficult to tell somebody is wearing the aligners, even when you are really close to them.

Invisalign is worm for most of the day and night and removed when eating meals. Each clear aligner is worn for 2 weeks.

Also a clear aligner system, In-Line aligners are made in Germany from a patented powerful twin layer plastic material. Each aligner moves teeth by up to 0.6mm and a series of aligners are required to gradually move teeth into their required position.

Each clear aligner is worn for 4 to 6 weeks. They are worn on average 20 hours per day and can be removed for eating, drinking and for social events if necessary. They are transparent, virtually invisible to other people and are very comfortable to wear.

Inman Aligner

Inman Aligner is a revolutionary teeth straightening system which effectively straightens teeth in as little as 6 to 18 weeks. The system is very gentle and the majority of it sits behind the teeth, with just a discreet clear bar on the front attached to metal springs towards the back. This too is worn for most of the day and night and the forces come from in front of and behind the teeth.

Unlike the clear aligners, one Inman Aligner will do the majority, if not all of the desired tooth movements, possibly requiring one or two clear aligners to complete the treatment.

A Brace System To Suit You

As you’d expect with any dental treatment, a thorough consultation is needed to assess your specific needs.
